AARON GORDON IS having one of, if not the best season of his career, averaging around 18 points and 6 rebounds per game while shooting roughly 50 percent from the field and about 40 percent from three—career-bests across the board. As injuries have piled up in Denver, Gordon’s elevated play has helped stabilize the lineup and keep the Nuggets competitive in the Western Conference.
Sure, you’ve seen the defensive domination and highlight-reel dunks. But Gordon has range on and off the court. The NBA champion is a daily chess player, never travels without a stack of books, and balances the grind of an NBA season with an eye for style and exploration. When the offseason arrives, Gordon often skips rest in favor of seeing the world. “My passport’s as tatted as I am,” he tells Men’s Health. This is the gear that keeps his relentless motor running.
“I love coffee. I love the smell of it. I love the taste of it. I love the effect of it. I love the sociality of it.” Philz is his go-to brew at home.
Gordon’s brother turned him on to these during a trip to Hawaii a few years back. “It’s like walking around barefoot, so they strengthen your foot muscles, but you have protection.”
Gordon has a collection of timepieces, but this one he picked up in Geneva is special. “It’s a beautiful, classic piece,” he says. “It’s an investment—you’re never gonna lose money on a Rolex.”
Gordon’s three nephews are his greatest inspiration. When they’re not wrestling, they’re playing Uno. “I’ve been hitting them with a lot of draw fours, and they’re not happy about it,” he says.
Gordon used to borrow leather jackets from his Harley-loving grandfather. Now he owns this one: “It’s a versatile piece—you can dress it up or dress it down,” he says.
This ultralight case holds all his essentials when traveling: books, a notebook, a pen, keys, and a laptop. “If I’m looking for a mental reset, I’m gonna go somewhere that I’ve never been before, or somewhere that I love to go, like Italy,” he says.
