The 6 Best Portable Blenders, Tested and Reviewed by Gear Editors
So we ran some trials on a dozen of the most popular options out there, coming away with an esteemed list of our top choices. We put them through the paces with different types of protein powders, chucked them in gym bags and tested them in cupholders, and weighed all kinds of features, from the quality of the lid to the strength of the motor.
In the end, we came away with six portable blenders that performed especially well in the field.
What to Consider
Battery Life
Your portable blender is only portable as long as it’s running. A cord and plug only hinder your ability on-the-go, so all the picks we have are rechargeable. That makes battery life a crucial feature, as the more juice you have, the better you’ll be able to whip up that shake or smoothie when you need it most. Even if the thing charges quickly, you don’t want to have to constantly be doing that. Anything above 10 minutes of continuous run-time is considered decent—though some have less and some have much more.
Blade Strength
The last thing you want is a blender with a dull or weak blade that can’t handle the contents. That said, perhaps you don’t need something incredibly powerful if you’re just mixing up pretty soluble ingredients. Find one that caters to your needs. Obviously, if you’re more of a fruit and vegetable smoothie person, or one who likes to add ice, you’ll want a model with some solid blade strength. If you’re just combining your favorite powder with some juice, milk, or water, you can probably get away with something less powerful.
Volume
How much volume the shaker can handle varies and it’s important to find one that agrees with your diet and routine. A 16-ounce model is pretty standard, but you might be after more if you’re carrying, say, a serving of gazpacho instead of a morning fruit smoothie. It’s also a consideration related to portability and weight, as more volume eats up more space.
Washability
After you’ve enjoyed the last drop from your portable blender, the less fun part begins. This is also known as clean up. Fortunately, the best portable blenders are easy to wash, practically sanitizing themselves. Washability is an important consideration, as you don’t want to mistakenly ruin the gadget by throwing it in the dishwasher or spend too much time and energy scrubbing the thing, potentially cutting yourself on a sharp blade.
How We Selected
It goes without saying, but the best way to figure out if a product is worthwhile is to try it out, over and over again. That’s what our team’s done since the beginning of summer, putting portable blenders to the test en route to workouts, camping trips, over long work commutes, and during lunch breaks. Myself, along with Men’s Health editors, ran them through the gamut of foods, from fruit-and vegetable-based smoothies to dairy-based protein powders, ranging from casein and hemp to whey.
During our testing, we took note of things like charging time, durability and performance of the blade, ease of portability, battery life, how well the ingredients blended, and what the drinking experience from the shaker was like. After all that, we came up with the following six best portable blenders in 2025.

Pros
Compact design
Durable
Good for a variety of ingredients
Cons
A little heavy
The EvolutionX is indeed a highly evolved portable blender, keeping pace with our rigorous day-to-day activities. We love the slim design as well as the hushed sound while running, never interrupting a conversation or startling anybody within range. The durability is of note, and while we threw all kinds of ingredients at this machine, the blender never failed to produce a nice consistency (even with soup), and fast.
Sure, the blender is a tad heavy and expensive, but not when you take into account what it can do. We came away feeling like this one could not only produce the widest range of liquid beverages, but outlast all the others in doing it. An added bonus is the quick charge time (up to two hours to be fully charged), not to mention the modern design of this option.
While the model is not technically dishwasher safe, it does clean up quickly and without too much effort.
For those who like to customize, this portable blender is a safe bet. The more than 20 color options will suffice anyone’s preference, while the functional lid practically adapts to whatever you’re drinking. Utilizing a vortex blending system, the blender turns out well-mixed drinks without wasting any time.
We like the fact that it’s both dishwasher safe and has a self-cleaning function, as the latter is particularly good for when you’re throwing a lot in there (produce like berry stems and spinach leaves are hard for a dishwasher to get). The stainless steel blade is built to last, and we found storing the thing in a gym bag or in the bottle holder of a backpack to be fuss-free.

Best Portable Blender for Protein Shakes
Hamilton Beach Portable Corded Blender
A major value, this portable blender does a lot for the money. Built with sleekness in mind, the thing is light without sacrificing too much in the way of power. The smaller volume presents a bit of an issue, but not when considering both the price point and resulting weight.
Boasting seven color options, the Hamilton Beach also touts more intricate volume marks on the jar itself. Experimenting with the thing, you might think it’s too light or small to produce results but the 12-volt amperage created great smoothies over and over again. The reason for that being this is a corded model and requires you to plug it in to use it—no rechargability here. There’s even a three-year warranty, some frosting on the cake, if you will. Another big con, this blender doesn’t hold as much as other options on this list.

Best Handling Portable Blender
Nutribullet Flip Portable Blender

Two main things stood out to us as impressive with this model. One, the larger volume is great if you like to pack a lot in a smoothie or just constantly have the hunger. Two, the almost silent sound of the motor, something you could practically sleep through (not a bad thing if you like to get started early in the morning, before others are up).
Issues? The price is a bit high all things considered but with an insulated cup, excellent lid, and flip and twist-off top, the Nutribullet is actually kind of fun to use, something we can’t always say about blenders. That’s thanks to the twist and flip movement to attach the blade to the shaker. Plus, after you blend it’s basically just a normal-looking thermos with a carry handle.
