REI IS A solid one-stop shop for our editors’ favorite outdoor gear. It has a little bit of everything, especially when it comes to stuff we’ve personally tested and recommend. Whether it’s the latest Hoka running shoes or our favorite performance rain jacket, there’s a little something for everyone. And when things go on sale, it gets passed around the office, fast. We also make sure to keep you folks in the loop, too.
And right now is one such time. REI’s first sale of the year is a doozy, with 50 percent off some of our favorite gear of last year. For example, one of our best-tested trail running shoes, the Hoka Speedgoat 6, is now 50 percent off in one color (although sales are going quick and right now only a couple sizes are left in that color). Hoka rarely gets the half-off treatment (even on its own site), so this is something we’d certainly consider “newsworthy.” And even if it’s not your color, two other colors have near full size runs and are still 19 percent off. If you’re gearing up for the spring weather, one of our all-time favorite pairs of gym shorts, the Kore shorts, is also currently discounted by over 20 percent.
